Hi there, for the past 2 weeks, about every other day ive been getting horrible pains when l walk. l have so much energy now and l feel better now than l did the whole pregnancy. Except for these pains.

They feel like l just did 1,000 situps, my stomach burns, and l get horrible menstrual pains inmy back stomach and butt. l get the sweats and no matter where l am l need to sit.....

Now the past 3 days, ive been waking up at night with them, and yesterday l had them atleast 6 times throughout the day, and now this morning l feel really nausiated.

At my apt 2 weeks ago they checked my cervix and l wasnt dialated. But a week before that l lost part of my plug, but nothing happened afterwards....

mybf said it might be the baby ona nerve or her pulling on something , but these pains take my breathe away.

Do braxton hicks really hurt that bad? or is it contractions, or what else could it be?

I think the baby sitting on a nerve is very likely. With my last baby he was siting right on my cervix & would use his cord as a bundgy cord (that was our final assessment after he was born. His cord was really short.) That usually sent horrible pains up & down my legs & through my uterus thus leading to painful Braxton Hicks contractions. So, yes, there r times when circumstances within the body can lead to painful braxton hicks. It is rare though. One thing that might really help is a chiropractic adjustment. I get these regularly now after my 3rd baby. It really does help alot especially if you've got a pinched nerve. I would agree about talking to u dr as well. There may something going in there that he needs to assess first. It is very likely not the baby in harms way. Putting a call in this morning might be just what u need right now. Sometimes even just going to the dr, whether they can give answer to us, helps alot.

Hope u feel better.

God bless,

mom of 5 w/ #6 due Nov 08

Contractions feel like menstrual cramps & can be in the front or lower back. The pain hits, peaks, & goes away. The abdomen will feel hard during a contraction. In true labor, contractions get longer, stronger, & closer together. Anytime u r feeling 4 of these an hour u should contact ur doctor. If u were having contractions at this time & ur cervix was dilating, that would be a risk for premature delivery. I suggest u see ur doctor & get ur cervix checked. The last part of pregnancy is uncomfortable & there can be a lot of muscle & joint pain from the ligaments loosening up & strain on ur back muscles. See what ur doctor thinks, that is always the best thing to do when u r not sure.

I've had ligament pains for months when I walk. I am also having hip pain lately (pelvis spreading). My BH started in my 31st week. It could very easily be the baby shifting around & hitting nerves. Contractions will cause tightening in ur uterus, so next time u hurt, check ur belly to see if its tight. If it is, time the contractions & go in if they get to a consistant 5 minutes apart. Drinking 2 glasses of water & laying down can help the BH go away. The biggest piece of advice I can give u is to lay down if u r hurting.

they may well be early contractions. this is normal they are like false alarms and this happens to alot of women. so dont worry you will be all right. but if they hurt that bad ask your doc what you can do about it

If it is been going on for 2 weeks, why in the world would not you talk to your doctor about it? First of all, it is probably not contractions.at least not the productive kind. They would need to be consistent, increase over time in intensity and get closer together. Are you sure you're not constipated? I highly recommend talking to your doc.surely you are seeing him once every 2 weeks at this point anyway. Good luck.

Braxton Hicks did not hurt me enough to take my breath away. You may want to consider putting yourself on bed rest.
