Natural aids for menstrual pains

. Those who took 200 milligrams of vitamin E (which started two days before their periods & continued through the first three days of bleeding) endured far less cramping than girls who took a placebo.

After a four-month span, the girls who took vitamin E had cramps for less than two hours, on average, during their periods, compared to 17 hours for those who did not take the vitamin.

Take 300mg of Valerian which is used against sleeping disorders, restlessness & anxiety, & as a muscle relaxant. Take it before bed & it also helps for cramps. Valerian seems only to work when taken over longer periods (several weeks), though many users find that it takes effect immediately.

My chiro. gave me Formula 303 (all natural) last time I was in to see him. And being used to taking 6-8 ibuprofen a day, I was amazed when my pain was completely GONE when I took 2 formula 303's.

My mom-in-law takes a shot of creme de menth (spelled wrong) in coffee. She swears by it.

There is an herb called ''Crampbark''.. I thought it was a joke at first, but it actually helps for any and all cramps.

Some natural herbs actually give a lot of relief for a lot of women. Try Omega-6 fatty acids like those in Borage Oil or Evening Primrose Oil. that is probably the most popular item I see that sells for cramps, PMS, and many other ''monthly issues''

To relieve menstrual cramps:

Take over-the-counter ibuprofen or naproxen sodium around the clock as directed to relieve pain & inhibit the release of prostaglandins. Acetaminophen will help with pain, but not with prostaglandins. Most over-the-counter menstrual discomfort products contain acetaminophen. Read labels. [Note: Do not give aspirin or any medication containing salcylates to anyone 19 years of age or younger, unless directed by a physician, due to its association with Reye is Syndrome, a potentially fatal condition.]
Drink a hot cup of regular tea, chamomile or mint tea.
Hold a heating pad or hot-water bottle on ur abdomen or lower back.
Take a warm bath.
Gently massage ur abdomen.
Do mild exercises like stretching, yoga, walking or biking. Exercise may improve blood flow & reduce pelvic pain.
Whenever possible, lie on ur back, supporting ur knees with a pillow.
Unless u have reasons to avoid alcohol, have a glass of wine or other alcoholic beverage. Alcohol slows down uterine contractions.
Get plenty of rest & avoid stressful situations as ur period approaches.
For birth control, consider using the pill because it blocks the production of prostaglandins or the Progestasert IUD because its use lessens menstrual cramps.
If u still feel pain after using self-care tips, call ur doctor.

I find my cramps r worse when I am hungry. So, try eating 5 or 6 smaller healthy meals a day when you're cramping to ensure food being in ur stomach almost all the time..but you're not gaining 5 lbs a month by binge-eating!
Exercising does help, I guess it gets the blood flowing, I dunno.
When I am at home, I lie on my back, w/ my knees curled up to my chest. That relieves it some.
Have someone massage ur hands or head/neck. For some people, that relieves it. It is usually only temporary for me, but it almost works! lol!
